One month old (yesterday)

Harrison is one month and one day old already! We took these pictures during 'tummy time' this morning to celebrate. He's doing a really good job of holding up his head; he held it up the whole time after I set him down, grabbed the camera and took all three of these pictures. Now if he could just apply some of that energy to sleeping longer than 3 hours at a time during the night...

I found this picture of Corey from our wedding video collection. I'm not sure how old he is, looks like a little older than Harrison, but they definitely have the big eyes in common! We are looking forward to going to Iowa this weekend to check out some of his baby pictures from when they are the same age to see any other similarities.

All dressed up - first trip to church

Well, we survived Harrison's first trip to church yesterday without any major issues. He got a little restless during the sermon but other than that handled it like a pro. He definitely looked the part in his cute little brown outfit and Puma sneakers (thanks to Mel Martinek for the fancy duds; Corey is still looking for shoes like that in his size!).

Harrison is already growing out of his newborn size clothes and is mostly wearing 0-3 month stuff. I thought these brown pants might be too big but they actually fit him almost perfectly. We are going to go have him weighed this week some time so will update with that later on.

Reader poll - "butt chin"?

Happy Memorial Day weekend, and unofficial start to summer! One of my interests lately has been trying to determine if Harrison is going to get Corey's "butt chin" someday. We have plenty of time to ponder this since it's been cold and rainy the last couple days and tough to get outside. I've posted a few pictures so you can decide for yourselves. My opinion today is that he is going to have the dent, but we'll see. I also added a few more pictures because he's just so darn cute I can't help myself.

What a face. Corey thinks he looks like him in the picture on the right...? I've decided that he just looks like Harrison :)

I love this picture. My mom is really turning into quite the photographer, check out the lighting on this one! Our birth announcements are in the mail to be delivered and thanks to Mom for taking all of the pictures that I chose to use on them. Good thing she takes good pictures, since all of mine make the poor kid look like a pumpkin head with a much worse double chin than he actually has.

Hanging out on a Saturday

It's been a pretty exciting week over here in Lincoln. The little guy took his first bottle yesterday which means that Erin now has the freedom to go where she wants when she wants as long as I've got a bottle and some food to heat up. It was actually pretty fun to feed him. Not sure I'd share the same sentiment at 4 in the morning, but oh well.

Grandma and Grandpa Ver Ploeg are on their way out today to visit. Last weekend Harrison got to see Grandma and Grandpa Jansen again and also met Uncle Troy. It rained most of the weekend so we spent a good portion of it hanging out in the house. He's looking forward to our trip back to Iowa at the end of the month where he'll get to meet more of his family.

Everything else is going pretty well around here. I had to travel to Minneapolis this past week for just a day. It was pretty nice to fly out and come back in one day. With the beautiful weather, Erin has been taking Harrison on walks and getting some nice time outside. Erin is very much looking forward to getting to run again in the near future.

Anyways, hope you all have a great weekend. Enjoy the pictures.

2 week dr. appointment

We had our two week doctor appointment this morning. Harrison is growing well - he now weighs 8 lbs 12 oz and is 20 7/8" long. He is definitely a good eater! Everything else at the check-up was good as well.

His next appointment isn't until the end of June, for his two month check-up when he'll have to get some shots. Considering the way he cries when we just change his diaper we're not really looking forward to that visit!

"Due Date"

Well, May 7th is finally here. Our due date. Awhile back Erin and I thought this would be the day we'd get this show on the road. Instead, we are blessed with a 10 day old of whom we couldn't be more proud. Harrison rocked tummy time today. He's getting his head up and doesn't mind it at all. Very fun stuff.

Dad had to head back to work today. Longest drive to work I've ever made. Waking up this morning I felt plenty rested, just bummed out that I wasn't going to be able to spend the day with my family. Gotta pay the bills I guess.

Grandma Carol has snapped some pretty amazing pictures of Harrison the past few days. I can't share them all, but I've included some to take a look at.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Cinco De Mayo

Nothing too much as far as updates go. We took Harrison on his second walk today outside. He has enjoyed them both so far. Okay, so he actually slept through both but it still counts. Here are some extra pictures for you all to check out. I know the sneezing picture isn't exactly scrapbook material, but I couldn't resist after some fine camera work to catch him in the middle of one.

Have a great week everyone.

One week old

Well, our little guy is all grown up. One week old today. The week has definitely flown by. It seems that we'll look at the clock and expect to see one time and instead see something two hours later. Harrison has been sleeping well by infant standards. He'll generally wake up 3 times a night to grab a quick meal. Erin and I are a little sleep-deprived, but doing just fine.
We've also begun a little "tummy time" with Harrison. He doesn't seem to mind and really gets to lifting his head up. If I talk on one side, he'll generally work to lift his head and turn the other way to see me. Pretty cool stuff.
Aunt Amber came out on Thursday to visit the nephew. Grandma Ver Ploeg is on her way out today to help out a bit as I go back to work. Grandma and Grandpa Jansen and Uncle Troy then are making the trek out next weekend. Harrison loves having visitors as long as the diaper's clean and he has enough to eat. Pretty much like most babies. Jordan and Julie stopped by with their twins, Jackson and Stella, on Thursday night. One of the pictures below shows Harrison becoming acquainted with his new friends. In regards to visitors, thank you to all those who have stopped or brought meals by the house. The three of us truly appreciate it.

I've posted more pictures and am attempting a video on this post. The video is nothing more than Harrison just hanging out, but it's nice to see a little action on this thing. Hope everyone had a great weekend. See you all later.
